Description
Coir Geotextiles are natural, biodegradable erosion-control mats made from high-strength coconut fibre, designed for soil stabilization, erosion prevention, and land rehabilitation. These eco-friendly mats regulate water flow, prevent soil displacement, and support vegetation growth by protecting exposed soil surfaces while allowing water infiltration. They are widely used on slopes, riverbanks, canals, drainage channels, road embankments, construction sites, and landscaping projects.
The porous structure of coir geotextiles traps soil particles while encouraging seed germination and deep root establishment, improving long-term soil stability and structure. Unlike synthetic alternatives, coir geotextiles gradually biodegrade over time, enriching the soil with organic matter and leaving no harmful residues. Their high tensile strength, durability, and resistance to heavy rainfall, UV exposure, and waterlogged conditions ensure reliable performance in both rural and urban environments.
Coir geotextiles are available mainly under three standard grades to suit different application requirements:
- 400 GSM – Suitable for light erosion control, landscaping, gentle slopes, and temporary soil protection.
- 700 GSM – Ideal for moderate erosion control, canal banks, road embankments, and vegetation establishment on slopes.
- 900 GSM – Designed for heavy-duty applications such as riverbanks, steep slopes, coastal areas, and high-rainfall zones requiring maximum strength and durability.
Cost-effective, easy to install, and environmentally responsible, coir geotextiles provide a sustainable solution for civil engineering, ecological restoration, and green infrastructure projects focused on long-term soil protection and environmental balance.
